Anyways there are two huge eagles hanging out at the lake by my place for a couple weeks now. I finally saw them yesterday for the first time. Seriously massive.
I see quite a few eagles in the summer months while I’m travelling around Northern Ontario so I’m a little desensitized to them I guess. The first summer I was with my job I was way up north of Armstrong at a fly in fishing camp and there was this HUGE eagle dive bombing for fish in front of the boat like 20 ft. We came back to the lodge all excited and told some of the workers and they were like, “Oh ya…we usually put the fish guts out on that rock over there and sometimes there will be like 20-30 eagles feeding on it. If you wanna see eagles just go to the dump.”
(Random fact of the day…Originally Benjamin Franklin wanted the Wild Turkey to be the USAs national bird…for the simple fact it was a very regal, proud bird, while Bald Eagles are scavengers, and who mainly steal dead food from other birds and animals…not so noble now ehhh).
Its still pretty cool though seeing them so close and where they haven’t been in ages. I have never seen eagles roosting in the trees at my parents house in all my life. I bet their wingspan has to be a bit more then two meters.
